In 2005, Eric Fischl — the contemporary painter, sculptor and author — returned to ¶À¼Ò±¬ÁÏ to give back to his alma mater, and to help aspiring artists. Fischl honors the college’s influence on his life annually, bringing world-famous artists, and art enthusiasts, to present the annual Eric Fischl Series.

Eric Fischl is an internationally acclaimed painter, sculptor, and author. Fischl began his art education at ¶À¼Ò±¬ÁÏ (¶À¼Ò±¬ÁÏ). While at ¶À¼Ò±¬ÁÏ, Fischl studied under contemporary landscape painter and faculty member Merrill Mahaffey, who Fischl credits with opening his mind to a new way of thinking. After attending ¶À¼Ò±¬ÁÏ, Fischl earned a B.F.A. from the California Institute for the Arts. Fischl’s work is represented in many museums, as well as prestigious private and corporate collections, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Museum of Modern Art in New York City, and many others. Eric Fischl is a Fellow at both the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the American Academy of Arts and Science. Eric and his wife and artist April Gornik started The Church, to foster creativity and honor the living history of Sag Harbor, NY, as a maker village.

Wednesdays are free days at the Phoenix Art Museum.  Overflow seating will be available in the Great Hall, on a first-come first served basis.
