Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects the privacy of personally identifiable information contained in a student鈥檚 educational record. FERPA affords students with certain rights pertaining to their education records, such as a student鈥檚 right to access their education records, the right to have records amended, the right to have control over the disclosure of personally identifiable information, and the right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education.
