PHOENIX (April 7, 2020) – ¶À¼Ò±¬ÁÏ, in partnership with St. Mary’s Food Bank, will host a Drive-Through Food Bank Wednesday, April 8, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly changed how ¶À¼Ò±¬ÁÏ delivers teaching and how students receive learning, but, for our students and community members who face food insecurities, the hunger problem still remains. The crisis of COVID-19 has only compounded the issue of poverty, hunger and food insecurities. Because of the closure of the College until May 8, 2020, this has eliminated food access to many of the colleges’ most vulnerable populations.

This Food Bank will help provide for students and the general public in the area who are facing food-related needs. The food distribution will be designed to limit direct access with volunteers and those receiving food, in support of ongoing social distancing recommendations.

Following are details of the event:

What: Distribution of fruits and veggies, along with canned goods.

When: Wednesday, April 8, 11 a.m. -1 p.m.

Where: ¶À¼Ò±¬ÁÏ North Parking Lot. Vehicles will be permitted to enter the lot on the northwest corner of campus from the Flower Street side and exit from the 11th Avenue side. See attached map.

What Do I Need To Participate?: Participants are asked to drive-through and will be asked to present a state-issued ID, such as a driver’s license, with a home address.

Social Distancing Details: Greeters will sign up participants through the car window as they drive up. Participants are asked not to roll windows down, but to show their ID through the window. Food boxes will be placed directly in the trunk of the vehicle and will minimize interactions with guests.
